Rockstar Games has officially announced a free GTAV PC Upgrade, bringing excitement to the Grand Theft Auto V community. However, this update also raises concerns for FiveM and GTAV Legacy users, as custom assets currently used in these platforms will not be natively compatible with GTAV Enhanced.
Compatibility Challenges for Modders
With the new update, many custom assets used in FiveM and GTAV Legacy will require conversion before they can function correctly in GTAV Enhanced. This means that modders will need to adapt their existing assets to ensure smooth integration with the upgraded game.
To ease this transition, a conversion tool is currently in development, designed to support key asset formats used in GTA modding.
Supported File Formats for Conversion
The upcoming tool will enable modders to convert the following file types:
- .ydd (Dictionaries of multiple drawables) – Used for models that include multiple components.
- .ydr (Generic models, geometry, embedded textures, and lights) – Covers a variety of objects and items in the game.
- .yft (Complex fragmented skeletons/models) – Used for pedestrians, vehicles, and destructible objects.
- .ytd (Texture Dictionaries, also known as TXD) – Handles textures applied to models.
On the other hand, some file types will not require any conversion, such as:
- .ycd – Typically used for animations.
- .ybn – Collision files that define object interactions.
When Will the Tool Be Released?
The exact release date is still being finalized. However, the developers have reassured the community that they are focused on completing the final stages of the tool’s development. Once ready, a full announcement and detailed documentation will be provided to help modders transition smoothly.

Stay Tuned for More Updates
As the fivem modding community prepares for the GTAV Enhanced upgrade, this conversion tool will be an essential asset in keeping FiveM and GTAV Legacy content compatible. Stay tuned for further announcements and make sure to follow the latest updates to ensure your custom assets remain fully functional in the new version.
